Those were the things about New York and its music that inspired Piet Mondrian to create his masterpiece Broadway Boogie Woogie in 19 43. His exciting multicolored painting done without using any black. Well, I believe that he missed out on something even more exciting. with even more energy. The black and white photography of the era. Photo’s that captured the true mix of the city. I’ve done this as my tribute to NYC, using Thai Silver for the white, mixed with African, Black Onyx squares. Perhaps a bit more elegant in feeling. Thus Park Avenue instead of Broadway. You can almost hear the drum beats and the horns. |
